I was looking for some gold pile terrain pieces when I found this amazing youtube video describing how to make treasure piles and it worked like a charm! No point in me explaining how I made these as i followed the video to the letter except I used a purple wash rather than a black wash. Really fun to make… the flat is full of glitter now, but it was worth it! Super happy with the result. Small gold piles Medium gold piles Large gold piles And finally: One huge gold pile Gold piles in details Infernax, the young red…

February last year, I introduced D&D to a bunch of people who almost all had no prior experience with the game or very little from when they were in school. Now, a year and a half later, we are still playing the same campaign, but in the last chapter of our campaign, we had the very first character death! I’ll come to that at the end of the article, but the game also had some other lessons learned that I want to cover. Enter the Everdry Desert Long story short, the party is heading into the Everdry Desert to retrieve…

I have absolutely no idea what game these orcs belong to (do you? Let me know!). I bought them at Salute in 2018 as I thought they were funny and full of unique character. Semi-happy with the paint job but it will have to do. In the process of painting them, I realised all my orcs are from different manufactures so I made a group shot which you can find at the end, In my D&D game it means that all Orcs are uniqu and have unique personalities. So far our party has only met the orc with the whip…

I only recently learned about Rage Craft Miniatures , but when I saw the photos of this amazing Witch King I bought it immediately. And the real miniature didn’t disappoint! In fact, I’d say eventhough I am happy with the paintjob on this one, it doesn’t do the miniature justice! Really badass undead dude.Would work well as a Death Knight with it’s own personality rather than being a copy of Lord Soth.

Saw this miniatures years ago but didn’t have a use for it (I tend to paint only what I need for playing). And although our D&D party is nowhere near at the level where they can fight vampires, I still think the chance they might one day is a good enough reason to buy and paint it! To me she is the kind of vampire that comes with armour and swords rather than spells.

Truth is I have never fielded Kobolds! So when I saw these little dudes from Otherworld Miniatures I was super excited about painting them so I hope I get a chance to field them. One of the things I love about the Warhammer 40.000 Rouge Trade era Orks is the personality that shines through in the miniatures and these Kobolds really have the same traits, not to mention the details is phenomenal given the size of them. I found the eyes significant more easy to paint than most larger miniatures. Size comparison to an elf.

The first time I saw this dragon I really liked it and it didn’t take long for me to buy it. I bought it as a Reaper Bones as I think the details are good enough on bigger creatures. Fast paint job, lots of drybrushing… in fact I probably spent more time making and painting the base. I also think this miniature has a good size as it works both as Young and Adult Dragon as shown below. Full dragon compliment Minus Dragon Wyrmlings … and yes, the green one is technically a wyvern!

Last year I spend a lot of time doing basic terrain pieces such as dungeon tiles, game boards, generic scatter and furniture. This year I have more freedom in exploring funner things like this configurable gaming board and funky little Dungeons & Dollhouses pieces. And because of this freedom, I’m now able to steer our campaign into a more alien environment to the party (and the players): The Everdry Desert! And to make that upcoming experience come to life, I’ve created some terrain scatter specifically for desert adventures. Been great fun. Cacti (or Cactuses) These essentially are made up of…

Having retrieved the soul of the evil bandit captain Larsen Qu from Avernus, the party arrived knackered back in Lyrayara late at night. Exhausted the party withdrew to their chambers and fell asleep. A few days later they woke up in unknown surroundings in The Masquerade and was taken before the Shadow Queen as her guests. Here they handed over the scroll containing Larsen Qu’s soul for extraction. As this process took some time, the party went shopping in the home of the most ancient and secretive of all criminal organisation. Here the individual party members had mini adventures in…

Fantastic and majestic miniature! Leaned on my wife to suggest colours for her. Normally when I paint minis are glue them all together first… to avoid wasting time painting bits that cannot be seen… however, this was a case where I wish I hadn’t glued her skirt on before painting her legs.. or stockings as it were. Very happy with the result though. As the head of The Masquerade, she is brill.     The Masquerade complete The Masquerade is the most ancient, secretive and powerful crime organisation in Heden Rei, the world our campaign “The War of the…
