Back to the Grim Darkness of a Far, Far Future… Re-discovering Rogue Trader – A trip back in time. The last couple of months I have had this idea about bringing my old Realm of Chaos books to London and make some warbands and see if I could find anybody who would be interested in basically taking a 10 year step back in the Games Workshop time line. So far it has stayed as a though, untill I ran into this thread where this bloke was trying to find if anybody still played the good old Warhammer 40.000 Rogue Trader rules (first edition of…

Being a big fan of VOR The Maelstrom, Dark Age looked interesting from day one since loads of the people creating VOR The Maelstrom now works on Dark Age. It has a similar rules system although it is more close combat oriented. Dark Age is based on the twisted fetish artwork of Brom, which some might know from a Card Game by the same name, Dark Age. This makes the game an adult game, due to the high fetish-level in both artwork and the minis. Not a bad thing though, a game for grown-ups. The Background I am not all…

Iron Kingdom Warmachines After for a long time waiting for a new game after VOR The Maelstrom died, two new games suddenly arose. One is Dark Age and the other is IK Warmachine, which this section is dedicated to. The Background IK Warmachine takes place in a fantasy world where steam-powered machines called Steam Jacks are brought to life by magic. This fantasy world first appeared in the D20 Roleplaying game Iron Kingdoms and in this game the Steam Jacks are only a small part of the game, they simply do jobs that machines like forklifts etc would do to day, but with such awesome strength and potential of causing…

Yes, I know I planned my Cynwäll as a fast paint-for-play army, but Soïm is one fantastic miniature so I did spend somewhat longer on him. He follows the basics I am using for my whole army, but he differs from the other troops as he is wearing next to no armour (or clothes) so it gave me the opportunity to make more out of his skin. I painted his body a greenish grey and highlight it with several rounds of skin colour and skin colour mixed with white, to give him a colder, leaner look. While the rest of…

Colourscheme I don’t like playing with an unpainted army so while painting my Orcs of the Behemoth (where each miniature takes quite a while to paint) I have started an army choose to be quick to paint. For this paint-to-play army I have chosen Cynwäll Elves; Only need few models, they are cool and I have an idea for a quick paintscheme: Prime all white. Paint all armour light blueish grey, ink it with a darker grey and highlight with the light blueish grey followed by white. All clothes, capes etc gets a wash of light, greenish grey, then highlighted…

Confrontation by Rackham has existed as game for quite a while at the time writing this (sept, 2008) but I never got into the game as other games got in the way (first VOR, then Dark Age, then Warmachine). This is actually quite strange as I have always really really love the Rackham miniatures esspecially since they remind me of my favorite fantasy film which “The Labyrinth”. If you don’t know why, see the photos below. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I hooked up with Mocaiv and Bootcamp to play some VOR as the game is set to return…
