This will actually be my first Mordheim post.
I never got around to play the game back in the days. But i always wanted to play it.
Now that I’ve gotten my hands on a rulebook, it is time to get some crafting going starting with a terrain board.
While I love the rich Mordheim boards with roads, water ways, buildings etc. out there, I don’t have the space for such a board.
So instead I am taking inspiration from my smaller Dungeons & Dragons terrain boards that generally consists of a small defining board and elements to put on top such as this hellscape board or simply just elements like this desert/forest board.

I am quite happy with how my Mordheim terrain board set turned out. I will have to do some walkways, ladders and a few more elaborate ruins to make it fully gamable.
Below is the finished result with WIP pic afterwards.
I don’t have a painted Mordheim gang yet, so I am using some Night Goblins to act as size comparison instead.

I could haver used XPS foam as the base framework, but I have these cardboard blocks from some IKEA furniture so used those instead with panels glued to the sides. It took a long time and looking back, I would rather have used XPS boards.

After glueing the sides I used Polyfilla, Spartelmasse, Flexible Filler and rolled patterns with rolling pins from Green Stuff World dipped in water with some washing up detergent.
The detergent is important as it prevents the Pollyfilla from sticking to the rolling pins.
I tried other types of caulk, but without the flexibility, it doesn’t really work and I am worried it would later on crack.

I then painted all boards with an acrylic wall paint.
Used a tanning glove with brushed on bone colour and carefully dabbed it on. I was afraid using drybrush or a sponge would get into the tiny grooves made by the rolling pins.
The tanning glove worked really well.
Finally, a wash of homemade shade made of the same grey used as base coat with some brown and black mixed in. Diluted with water and added washing up detergent.
I had a second pot with just water and washing up detergent so I could dilute the wash if and when needed.
