Daisygate lies on the south-eastern shore of Lunessence out towards Dawnsea. and is the biggest city of Lunessence due to its thriving trade both within Skylathar and with different countries across the oceans.
It is protected by Skyshard Peaks to the north and the dangerous Wildshade Forest to the west making it well protected on all sides.
While Wildshade Forest is dangerous to enter, the natural residue from the forest (such as fallen leaves etc) makes the plains between the forest and the city, fertile. They are know as the Fields of Flourish and provide more than enough harvest for the city and the visiting ships.
The harbour of Daisygate was naturally formed thousands of years ago by a meteor impact that formed Skyshard Peaks and created the round, protective shape around the harbour known as Starfall Bay.
The Gate of Daisies
Legend has it that the gate Equinor opened to the Feywild was made of daisies and in the rush to save the Fey, Equinor forgot to close the gate leaving a permanently stable gateway to the Feywild.
Over time, people of Skylathar started trading with the Fey and soon a trading post emerged only to become a village, then a town and so on until the mighty city of Daisygate arose.
In reality most people attribute the legend to the luck the city has had establishing itself as a trading power house of Skylathar.
Luck and lucky people are described as “having a daisy moment”, “blessed by the daisies” and similar. Indeed, it is used as a greeting as well: “Have a daisy day.”
Governance
Daisygate is ruled by the relatively young and beloved Lady Elowen Quillsmith who have yet to take a spouse. She took the throne after her father Thalion and mother Lyrielle’s untimely deaths at sea during a storm.
People we know
- Rowan Ashfall, the Sherif of Daisygate
- Lopper Goldsmith and Karl Jorgenholt, Inquisitors of Daisyguard. They are the official detectives and investigators.
Locations
Artisan Quarters
Also know derogatory as Sparkleville. This is where we find most of the gold- and sliver smiths, the dress-, bag-, shoe and hat makers, the lawyers, the doctors, the scribes, theatres, spas and everything else fanciful a city has to offer.
Artisan Quarters is also home to the most powerful guilds and embassies of the city.
The Circle of Life neighbourhood
Named after the fact that shops here cater for people from birth to death.
Find out more about Circle of Life here.
Bayview
In most harbour towns the area around the actual docks are generally less attractive real estate, but not so in Daisygate. The Bayview area is the home of the rich and famous of the city including the castle Bloomspire Hall, the ruling seat and home of the Lord and Lady of Daisygate.
The Commons
The biggest area of Daisygate and home to most of its residence known as Daisydwellers, most of which have a fondness for the legends of the Fey eventhough few believe them to be real.
Children of the Glimmmer, a loosely formed organisation dedicated to the return of the Fey. Most participate mainly as an excuse to be involved in the colourful Dance of the Glimmer festival that takes place at mid-summer.
Gutters
The Gutters is the seedier part of Daisygate probably developed that way due to its proximity to Tinker Town. This is the home of the poor, the criminals and the creatures of the night.
La Rose de Velours
A seedy burlesque establishment run by the voluptuous Madame Colette D’Aramont. Colette is in fact a retired Assassin and the head of The Veiled Hand, the guild of criminals such as thieves, robbers, assassins and the likes. The guild is located in a huge underground palace underneath La Rose de Velours.
Newgate
A more recent suburb that has developed outside the citywalls to the south to accommodate the ever expanding population. It is an area popular with the middle class and features new and existing places to visit for all of Daisygate such as new restaurants, new shops etc.
Newgaters are generally fey-sceptics, who don’t believe any of the any of the fairytales about fey people.
The exception is the The Iron Masquarade, a shadowy group of fanatics who meet in secret all wearing masks of iron. Contrary to common beliefs, they believe the Fey to be very real… and an very real threat.
The Long Mile Dispatch
A generally decent reputed dispatch service, mainly focusing on long haul deliveries between the cities of Lunessence.
The desk is normally manned by the tall, bureaucratic Hobgoblin Blaak Tongontickler whose manners are somewhat lacking.
Mira Tornel is one of the main guards and is normally dispatched with the most valuable packages.
The Wrong Tree
A newly built tavern that is built sunken into the ground by almost half a floor to accommodate the tavern’s unusual feature, the tree growing upside down in the centre.
The tavern owner is Kelthar Val, a retired military man, a Green Dragonborn with a nasty scar running down the left side of his face and with his left horn missing and replaced with a silver horn of a different shape than his right horn. According to Kelthar the horn is from a Silver Dragonborn that he killed for damaging his face and horn.
Thornlock
In the centre of Daisygate is one of the most unusual quarters of the city: Thornlock, an extremely densely populated and largely lawless enclave right in the middle of the city.
Find out more about Thornlock here.
Tinker Town
A scrappy shanty town of goblins just outside the city walls to the north. Nobody really know why the goblins decided to set up camp some 70-80 years ago and while it makes the citizens of Daisygate uneasy, the goblins are generally keeping to themselves.
