In the spring, we moved from Copenhagen with no fixed destination. So I gave away most of my D&D terrain to a couple of local D&D clubs.
Now that we have found a place to settle (Odense, third largest city in Denmark) and now that we are soon starting our new D&D campaign, i have started re-building my terrain library starting with the most basics of basics: The stone tiles.
Step 1: Make the tiles
These are made on foam core boards where I have peeled off the paper on one side, cut lines for tiles and roughened up with a handful of gravel pressed down using a bigger stone.
I normally go for XPS foam but i cannot find it here in Odense. And this works fine.
Step 2: paint grey

Step 3: add splotches of green and brown, let dry and drybrush with light tan

Step 4: Wash with thinned black paint mised with a bit of brown
Now this look fairly good on the photo, but in reality this lost too much contrast of the edges.

Step 5: Rehighlight edges
This looks exagerated on the photo, but in real life it looks good and since we are playing online, it is good with some contrast.
