Eldritch Hack – Case 1 – File 1: Arriving at Skeljavik

Sunday 17 November 1957

Telegram from MI6 arrives at the home of Marine Biologist, Diana Deporres and Occult Author and Expert, Lucille Bellview.

Monday 18 November, 1957

Diana and Lucille both make their way to Bergen Norway.

Lucille arrives first in Bergen where a helicopter modifed for long distance travel awaits to take her to Skeljavik, a remote fishing town on the east coast of Iceland. Her she is met by the “Oddviti” of Skeljavik, Jonas Einarsson, the local village head / mayor who takes her to the local Guest house.

Several hours later, a second helicopter arrives with Diana.

As the hour is late, Jonas promises to brief the two investigators in the morning with Malcolm Ashford, the Head of Operations at the remote Greyfin meteorological station.

Tuesday 19 November, 1957

Malcolm and Jonas takes the investigators to the coastline where a beach beaked whale is found.

It is clear both men and the locals who have seen the creature is visibly shaken by the experience.

The investigators approach and are both shocked to discover the whale has humanoid facial features.

After they recover from the shock, they investigate the dead creature further and discover metal parts and other man made things that seems to have fused with the whale.

While discussing the creature, the local fishmen take interest in the conversation and led by a large man in his late 50s, the one-eyed Greenlander Karl Angakkuq.

Karl believes the creature is the returned spirit of Bjarn Eiríksdóttir, a fisherman who has disappeared, generally thought to be lost at sea.

But the local fishermen, who knew Bjarn, believe he was met with an untimely death arranged by his wife the local Hairdresser and Hobby Historian Yrsa Eiríksdóttir who they believe has an affair with Tómas Vilberg the local Shopkeeper.

The belief is that the sea has granted Bjarn a chance to seek revenge and the fishermen believe it is best to leave the creature alone.

Malcolm and Jonas clearly do not share this believe, but where Jonas cannot offer an alternative, Malcolm believes the creature to be a failed result of the Soviet Union experiments to create a super soldier.

Other investigation that day leds to investigation to learn that Jonas is married to the local “Brýnna”, Rúna Einarsson, the local spiritual leader who holds the informal role due to being the head of one of the three oldest families in Skeljavik, the Ásmundarsson family.

The other two elder families are Halldórsson and Eiríksdóttir.

The day ends with more questions than answers….
