When I moved to Denmark in 2020, I really got back into Warhammer 40.000 2nd edition and were bidding on old Ork minis people were putting up for sale.
A chap named Rune was often bidding against me as the arch nemesis ork warlord.
Little did I know I would move to the same city as Rune 5 years later.
Today we got together for our first Warhammer 40.000, 2nd edition Ork vs Ork battle!
This is not a proper summarized battle report but just photos and comments from this fun game.

Setup
The two Bad Moon Warbosses Redeye and Gorteef were on each their own mission when they met.
Technically they were on the same side, but for a long time they had argued about who should be the new Warlord as they agreed the current Bad Moon Warlord needed to be retired.
This was a chance to finally set the score right…
I got Dawn Raid as mission while Rune drew High Ground. Basically I had to get to his deployment zone while he had to get to the three high points all in the center of the table.
For Strategy, Rune drew Booby Traps while I drew Barrage.
For Psychic Powers I drew Waaagh! and Brain Busta. Rune drew Squish and ‘Eadbutz.
I set up first and ended going first as well. I would like to comment on my grand plan, but I mainly just set up stuff where I thought it made sense.
Rune was a bit more deliberate having my setup to react to.

Turn 1
Below picture shows the end of Turn 1 with us mainly moving forward.
One notable move was Rune’s Evil sunz bikes rushing past my Nob filled Wartrukk. I imagine the Orks shouting abuse as they roared past each other.
OI!! YOU GITZ!!
My War Buggy rushed towards the Gretchin and Dreadnought. The eager Boys laser focused on the Dreadnaught, but missed it with the Multi Melta.
Dreadnought in return hit home on the War Trukk, but its Kustom Forcefield protected it from the impact… and overloaded instead!
Smasha Gun tried to grab the Dreadnought but failed, before it moved out of line of sight.
I rolled 2 for Force cards giving neither Weirdboy much room for doing damage.
Turn 2
Turn two ended with two of Rune’s Evil Sunz bikes losing their riders to the Heavy Plasma Gun , while a third one saw its Auto Cannons jam.
They still removed a good portion of the Bad Moon Boyz Mob.
First blood.
The Nobs left the War Trukk that had been hit and was spinning out of control. They engaged the Mega Armoured Nobs, confident their Power Fists would be able to deal with the ‘ard armour.
The Smasha Gun used the chrashed War Trukk and dropped it on Goff Boyz killing one of them.
My Weirdboys head exploded due to the power of the Waaagh with such a force he took several orks, including his two minders with him. (I forgot my Weirdboy Staff which would had stopped the mighty head bang).
Rune’s Weirdboy used Squish on the Wartrukk but no luck. For the rest of the game the poor Ork Psychic would use Squish again and again with no luck.
Needless to say our Psykers had very little impact on the game.
Turn 3
Lots of movements and shooting
The War Buggy’s Multimelta hit home on the Dreadnought immobilising it and damaging one arm. In return the Dreadnought hit the War Buggy engine so it would only be controlled on a 4+ for the rest of the game.
The two Nobs mobs clashed, and it became clear the Squig Injectors of the Mega Armour were very useful.
(Note to self. Mega Armour is totally worth getting in the future).
My Gretchins headed towards the Goff Boyz and the two mob shot at each other.
My Runtherd clearly wanted to prove himself (and his new Power Fist) having eyed Warboss Redeye amongst the Goffs.
Meanwhile Rune’s Gretching had formed a sneaky plan and was starting to carry it out while the War Buggy and the Dreadnought were facing off.
Turn 4
The War Buggy finished the Dreadnought while Rune’s Nobs Mob killed off my less armoured Nobs.
The Goff mob also dug into my Gretching Mob and Warboss Redeye finished of my Runtherd’s dream of victory!
Turn 5
Turn 5 can simply be summed up as everybody killing everybody in true Ork style.
But Rune’s Gretchin’s plan came to fruition. Even without their Runtherd they carried out their orders and took the ruin in the center securing the victory of Waaagh Redeye!
They also took revenge on my Mekboy who had previously killed their Runtherd leader.
And last but absolutely not least, the two Warbosses had chrased into close combat with their mighty Power Fists.
Two Bad Moon warbosses having a quick chat about who should be promoted to Warlord.
Alas, with Gorteef rolling three 1s our of 4 dice, and with Redeye rolling and extra 4 dice due to assistance from his crew, Redeye easily emerged the victor having only a single wound left!
