Warhammer 40.000 – Rogue Trader – Battle At The Farm

Next year (2027) it will be 40 years since Warhammer 40.000 launched with the 1st edition rulebook: Rogue Trader.

Inside the rulebook there is an introductory scenario called “Battle At The Farm“, which features Crimson Fists Space Marines, led by Pedro Cantor, against the Ork Space Raiders, led by Hruk and his righthand: Thrugg.

While I did play Warhammer 40.000 1st edition, I never actually played this scenario as the group I joined had already played for a few years plus I actually already had a substantial Ork army painted, and as such, I was thrown in into full scale battles from day one.

So to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Warhammer 40.000, I am painting up era-appropriate miniatures and crafting terrain to fit.

RTB01: Space Marines

For the Crimson Fists, I will be using the plastic marines from the very first Warhammer 40.000 boxset: RTB01.

Commander Pedro Cantor

While the set doesn’t come with a specific Pedro Cantor miniature, it is still possible to glue a suitable commander together with Power Glove and two Bolt Pistols.

There’s also a marine with a Flamer in the background. He doesn’t match the army list for the scenario, but he is such a cool model so I put him together as an extra.

RTB02: Space Ork Raiders

For the Orks I will be using the second ever Warhammer 40.000: TRB02: Space Ork Raiders, which has dedicated miniatures for both Hruk and Thrugg.

Oddly, the box set does not come with enough Orks! The army list for the scenario requires 21 Orks in total, but the set comes with 17 Orks including Hruk, Thrugg, an unnamed ork squad leader.

But, funnily enough, it comes with an Ork with a Heavy Bolter, which is not on the army list for the scenario.

I do have some era appropriate Orks that I can add as the missing squad.
