I am not sure how I got my hands on this Renegade Runtherd. It’s from the Rogue Trader era, but doesn’t seem to be listed in catalogues. Somebody from the Warhammer 40k 2nd Edition Facebook group pointed me to this entry on the Collecting Citadel Miniatures website.
Interestingly, it does say that the miniature appeared in the Rogue Trader “Freebooters” book. But flipping through the book, I can’t see it anywhere (apart from the rules themselves) – Here are the rules and miniatures pages from that book.
I got him with a group of Rogue Trader Gretchin that I want to use in my Bad Moon army. And it has left me in a bit of a pickle as my Bad Moon army was originally a hobby project to pull a Rogue Trader army together, but recently I’ve started playing wh40k 2nd edition where there’s no longer rules for Freebooter Runtherds.
Besides, if I painted him as a Freebooter, logic dictates that I would paint all the Gretchin freebooter colours as well, and I really want them to be Bad Moon.
So in the end I chose to paint him up as a Bad Moon Runtherd. Who knows? Maybe I’ll repaint him as a Freebooter one day to join his Warphead mate.
