I got this Wolf Guard Champion with my Ragnar Blackmane mini and since these guys can appear on their own leading more junior units, I thought I’d paint him up and use him to add a few extra points boosting a combat unit, My “Winter Wolves” as they are at the time of writing this.

What a treat to paint! When I first started painting him as the Grey Hunters, the Speed Paint technique didn’t work at all. Not knowing what to do, I just left him while I painted the rest of the Space Wolves. I finally took the plunge and tried to paint him to match and it […]
Having finished a few units and a few characters for my Space Wolves, I now have enough to field them against my Goffs. So I made two 820 points armies with no psychics and minimum wargear cards to keep it simple. Set up I’m playing the Space Wolves and my friends Carlo, who I normally […]
Another retro Space Wolves character I painted alongside my Ragnar Blackmane. As much as I enjoyed painting Ragnar, I also enjoyed painting Njal. I always liked how magic wielders in the Warhammer 40.000 universe was as strong and powerful as their combat counterparts. None of that fragile weak body thrope of D&D. Njal and Ragnar […]
This mini was a treat to paint. I mostly paint what I need to play D&D with and sometimes it means speed painting for the next session. But my Oldhammer projects don’t have a specific deadline so I paint these just for the fun of it. And I was fascinated by the Space Wolves when […]
Second unit from my Oldhammer Space Wolves loot. Same paint style as the Long Fangs. Not much else to say.
I had the surprise luck of finding a whole pile of Space Wolves from 2nd Edition Warhammer 40.000 recently and I’ve always wanted to paint an army of those chaps. Now I finally get a chance and they can be the opponents of my Oldhammer Bad Moon Space Orks. I’ve primed them with Dark Grey […]
Sometimes you come across something unique and that was the case with these three boxes somebody locally was selling. He never played Warhammer 40.000 so the boxes and the miniatures and all the bits they came with were left untouched. I will paint these in lighter grey sort of making the winter versions, Winter Wolves […]
I had to look up if this Weird Warphead miniature was from Rogue Trader era or 2nd edition as I don’t remember seeing it back in the days. But it is listed here as 1991 and since 2nd ed came out in 1993, it must be Rogue Trader. it has been a real joy painting […]
I’ve been painting my Rogue Trader Bad Moon army for a while now. But I had a chance to show a friend Warhammer 40.000 so I made two small 650 points warbands from the orks I have. One a more shooty all Bad Moon warband with weirdboys and better equipment like ‘eavy armour. The other […]
I saw a video about the Slapchop painting technique on Youtube and it made me think about back when I played IK Warmachine in the early 2000s and how this technique would have allowed me to paint my Cryx much faster. I do think the Cryx I painted back then are better, but to put […]
I’ve had these Shard Striders laying around for a while now. They were intended for a D&D oneshot I have yet to get a chance to run. However, I had this idea of a Mirror Room encounter for D&D and decided to use these two as Mirror Golems. To give them the chrome mirror effect, […]
