This Typhoon is scratch-built using some VOID minis and other unknown minis. Not the best weapon of the soviet army. If you want a Typhoon you should definetly build a Typhoon with a Mortar instead. Much much better value.

To be able to field my ML1-Irontusk mutant I needed a handler and at least one other mutant. However, the Rad Beast have always looked good to me so I painted three of them. As I needed these guys fast for a rapidly approaching game weekend, I have to speed paint them in order to be able to give Irontusk the attention he needed. I am actually quite happy with the results. Esspecially the handler. As it turned out the colour for the coat I painfully mixed back when I painted the Vanguards in 2001 I now had an almost identical Vallejo paint. Cool!…

About the mini As soon as I heard VOR was returning I knew I would have to face Mocaiv, my arch nemesis on the fields of the Maelstrom again so my mind turned to anything heavy and hard hitting. While I do have the Ursa I wanted something a bit unique and decided to go for an ML1-Irontusk mutant. As I have never been a big fan of the Whitetusk Bull the decision to buy the Whitetusk Chieftain instead was quick to make. However, due to the sheer size of the beast finding something suitable for the bionic parts proved…

This has to be one of the most useful Neo Soviet resources on the Internet. A Custom Mutant Chart made by Valdric with 100 Custom Muties! Thanks to Valdric for letting me link to his Chart. Go to the 100 Custom Mutant Chart Bull Mutant by Valdric. Nice work but I would have named it “The Killer Cow” 😉

The Kommander Officers Rad Troopers Vanguards Chem Grunts Cyclops Typhoon All humans are equal, but some humans are more equal than others. Give the Kommander a Kalashnikov to symbolise this line of thought The Kommander Not many yet, since I have only play one game so far with him. Suffice to say giving him a Kalashnikov was a good idea! Officers Remember that the Officers’ best ranged weapon is the Rad Hounds. To be perfectly honost I think the Neo Soviet Officers are lacking decent firepower, a Venger would be fine or even an assault rifle. I hardly ever shot…

Colourscheme I choose to make a clear border between grunts, command section and mutants, since it is clear Rad Troopers not as important as Officers in the Neo Soviet army and community. Red and grey are going to be the colours of Officers and Kommanders, so they stand out from the Eastern European brownish camouflage colour scheme I am planning for my foot troopers. Mutants are going to have a very individual colourscheme because I think each one of them are unique since the Neo Soviets probably haven’t completely mastered the art of changing flash yet. Therefore I want to…

What is VOR The Maelstrom? Shortly after releasing VOR, FASA went belly up leaving VOR in limbo from which it has never returned. However there is still a strong VOR community gathering at The Warp and the minis can be bought from Iron Wind Metals, including minis never released while the game was official alive. A Description of the game In 2000 I became fed up with Warhammer 40.000. I thought Games Workshop had gone too far in simplifying the rules with 3.ed. But what to play then? First thing I found was Warzone and managed to buy two magazines before Target Games (makes of Warzone)…
