Back when I moved to London (summer of 1999) I was a Warhammer 40k player, but moving to London I learned about a bunch of other super interesting scifi tabletop wargames and ended up ditching WH40K (never took to 3rd edition, I prefered the more skirmish nature of 2nd and Rouge Trader). Anyway, having been a serious Shadowrun player in high school, I knew of FASA and soon learned about Vor The Maelstrom. Now, I did end up playing Neo Soviets, but I always wanted a Growler pack (and kinda had one in my Neo Soviet army) and I won a…

So this is where it all starts! I have been invited to kick Union’s ass, more specifically Mocaiv’s Union’s Ass. As the game came close it was clear to me that BootCamp was turning up as well with the Growlers. Below are some of my comments and thoughts on these games. Let me first run through the armies: My army (Neo Soviets) Officer with Rad Hound 7 Rad Troopers with Bayonets 7 Vanguards, one with a Kalasnikov and one with the Wolverine HMG Finally two Cyclops Mocaiv’s Union Sergeant with “Move it!” and “Fire!” 4 Troopers, 1 with Bulldog and 1 with…

This is the 3rd battle between me and Mocaiv and the second between me and Bootcamp. This is my first 3 person battle. Below are some of my comments and thoughts on these games. Whoops! Forgot how many points we played: 500 points each (thanks to Techromancer for noticing this error). Let me first run through the armies: My army (Neo Soviets) Officer with Rad Hound and Rad Grenade 7 Rad Troopers with Bayonets 6 Vanguards, two with a Kalasnikov and one with the Wolverine HMG and Bayonets Finally two Cyclops Mocaiv’s Imperial Sovereigns To read the Custom force list got to…

There isn’t much to say here, basically because I have forgotten these games since they were last December (almost a year ago). But here is what I do remember along with some very bad pictures (I need a digital camera). The table was Father Time’s. The most brilliant piece was the grey piece in the furthest away corner. It is like a piece of mountain and all though it doesn’t do much in game terms (not in these games at least) it gives a very good feel to the board. Everything on the table made by Father Time except for…

This is the first Battle Report I make in almost two years. It is a 1200 point battle between myself and Mocaiv from www.wargamesunlimited.com who is fielding Zykhee. As the quick reader will know I have never beaten Mocaiv in the time we have played VOR (effectively from when VOR came to Europe. The Battle Report is based on a piece of drawing and my memory and may be altered. Note: Some of the pictures might look incorrect on the Zykhee’s behalf, but that is simply due to the speed of The Zykhee force, they are so fast that they can easily be engaged…

This isn’t a battle report as such but as this represents the first VOR game I have played in over 5 years I thought it justified giving the day its own page. The games 750points 3-way between Mocaiv’s Zykhee, Bootcamp’s Growlers and my own Neo Soviets. Setup Roling to see who set up made us all shift seats! I got the narrow table edge and placed my mutant squad, including my newly painted Irontusk and my Typhoon in the forrest towards the zykhee deplyment zone and my cyclops and the majority of my Rad Troopers towards the Growler deployment zone. Looking…

GavBot take on Stevieboy’s Shards on the City Table Gavbot’s Neos again (on my table again) against the winner, Mocaiv’s Zykhees. Zykhee and Shard on the Pharon table I didn’t get the chancce to play on. But I will some day. After battle. Mocaiv is taking pictures of participating miniatures The day after The big Zykhee Vs Neo Soviet battle The big Zykhee Vs Neo Soviet battle Here we see Dwight and Cpl. Hicks battle it out on the Ice board. During the big Zykhee Vs Neo Soviets battle Ebon-Keshik took these two photos of some of my minis on…

Golden Growler UK 2001 The White Horse Inn, Northampton, 6th and 7th October 2001 So this is it! Golden Growler UK 2001 is over and what a blast. I will not reveal the results here that will all be up on www.wargamesunlimited.com, I can reveal that I did not win. I must say it was a strange weekend, my vanguards didn’t do any good, my cyclops were rubbish. The two I always rely on! BUT my Rad Troopers kicked ass, and my chem grunts were waaay better than normal…. oh yeah, this was also my first chance to use the typhoon….

I been thinking for a long time about how to paint the Axion mini I bought shortly after Golden Growler UK 2001. I had an idea base around an illustration of a shard I did. The idea was to paint the whole Axion as I would paint a jewel. I would paint a jewel by painting it a base colour and making it darker and dark towards one corner (of a circle, great) for then to make a white dot in the darkest area. But will it work on a whole miniature? Well it is finished now so judge for yourself. I don’t…

At Golden Growler UK 2001 we were fortunate enough to get a blister with three prototype VOR minis: A Golem (the only Golem mini as far as I know), an old version Union soldier and an old version of a Vanguard. The Vanguard mini is somewhat bulkier than the later Vanguard minis making him the perfect mini to use as Yuri Alibek, the Great Bear. All I needed was to drill a hole in his back (where he was shot) and paint him in ghostly colours, white with highlights of the real colour he would have had.

The new and improved Typhoon I was not happy with the result of the previous Typhoon I made. First of all the mini didn’t really came out as I wanted it to be, Second, I think the Chaingun is too short range for a battle crawler. The only real option is the Mortar. On the left you can see the finised Typhoon and below I have made a step by step guide on how I did it followed by some bigger photos, enjoy! What I used: This is what I used to built the Typhoon. 1 Space Marine Vindicator Front Plate: 1…

The XIAO 3.14PI miniature is from the VOID range and is the best female miniature ever made, only Dragyri females from Dark Age come close, she is just perfect in all ways and I really wanted her in my army, so I turned her into a Neo Soviet officer carrying a Hammer and a Sickle.
