Photo credits to all my players. Ellie, Julia, Neil and Sean. Back in February this year (2018) I started playing Dungeons & Dragons again for the first time in 20 years with bunch of people, where all but 1 hadn’t played RPGs before… or dabbled a little bit in school back in the 80s. The first game was the start of our campaign and in short ended with the party rescuing a unicorn from being sacrificed, but the necromancer Varona Stillborn left the scene unharmed. The elven ranger of the party noticed some similarities with Varona’s sacrificial rites to some…

So this is one of those where I’d love to say I spent hours… nay… DAYS on the paint job… but I did not. Bottomline is I speed painted my way right through this and am very happy with the result! Prime Green Ink with Coelia Greenshade from Games Workshop Drybrush with a light green Drybrush with an even lighter green Paint nails and claws bone. Ink with Agrax Earthshade from Games Workshop Paint eyes with a neon yellow from Vallejo Add purple tongue for good measure! Base with stones and terrain flock. Done! Can’t wait for an opportunity to…

I really like the goblins from Knightmare Miniatures. I’ve bought lots of them and will be posting them as I get them painted (and played), but I want to start with my absolute favourite: The Head Goblin Black. This mini is so full of character, but without looking overly decorated. This boss was meant to fight! I’m using him in my Dungeons and Dragons campaign as Gnimsh the Wonderful who is a combination of an adversary as well as a roleplaying opportunity.

This is my first non-Forgotten King and likely to be my last Super Dungeon Explore mini for a while as I A) want to play game itself and find out if my friends are interested, and B) I recently bought Arcadia Quest so want to paint that set next. Nyan Nyan is the first ever miniature where I’ve tired to add some blush to the cheeks so all you lady painters out there: Feel free to laugh at my attempt to do makeup!

Soooo close! I promised myself I wouldn’t paint (or buy) any additions to Super Dungeon Explore before I had completed the Forgotten King box. I was one mini short (Boris) when I found Shadow Mode Candy in Leisure Games. Boris is half finished so all things equal, Shadow Mode Candy can take his place for the time being. She’s been super fun to paint. Gradient hair was difficult. Gave me grey hair, but I’m happy with the result. The sword was another challenge as the last 25% of the sword had not been cast, so I had to create the…

I wanted to paint the Forgotten King himself as the last miniature of the box, but painting the scratched cloaks of the Grobbit Executioners, I really wanted to test out the same technique on the King’s cloak… and with only Boris and the Creeps left, I felt it was ok to fast forward to the King. Another thing I was keen on trying was his face. I know on the card itself he is white faced, but given the sculpt, I wanted to try and emulate the colours of an owl. I was using a Google image search as inspiration,…

It’s interesting how the Big Mob is always the unit people dread to paint. Maybe it is because the sheer numbers, or maybe it’s because Ork players, both then and now, are spoiled with character rich miniatures so the basic troops is a drag to paint. In any case, I have finally gotten around to complete my Big Mob include their mighty clan boss leader. That means I have a Painboy and Runtherd and a visiting unit of Snakebite Cyboar Boys left to paint to complete my 1,000 point Rogue Trader Ork army. The Big Mob in all it’s glory…
